The River Why - Private Screening

Tuesday, November 8, 2011

Thanks to the work of EDTU Board Member Bill Wobbekind and the support of our local Chicago Patagonia store, the Elliott Donnelley Chapter of Trout Unlimited will be presenting a private screening of the fly fishing movie, The River Why. The event will take place at the Wilmette Theater on Tuesday, November 8th at 7:00 p.m. The cost will be $25, which will include popcorn, door prizes, and a cash bar.

River Why is based on the best-selling novel about Gus Orviston, a flyfishing prodigy. Tired of living under the shadow of his famous flyfishing father and an oppressive homelife, Gus moves into a secluded cabin on the banks of a wild river to follow his desire of a simple life of fishing. Instead of finding fishing bliss, his desolation drives him on a reluctant quest for self-discovery. Beautiful cinematography, a cast of fantastic actors, and the search for purpose in life make this a great film.

Note that this film has not been officially released and is only being shown at a few select screenings across the country, such as this one. So check out the trailer, below, and come join us for a unique opportunity!

Editors note. The River Why joins A River Runs Through It and other classics in the latest Trout Unlimited magazine's article on the top 12 trout and salmon fishing books of all time.
